Munich, August 29, 2006. Krauss-Maffei's RIM-Star Series of mixing and metering machines is now even easier to operate - because from now on, machine control is via touch panel. All functions are controlled simply by touching the screen surface.
In the past, function keys at the edge of the screen were used to control the machine. The touch panel has the function fields conveniently embedded directly in the graphic user interface, making for clarity of context at a glance. The various functions can be represented on the screen by self-explanatory symbols - this was possible only to a limited extent with permanently installed function keys.
Touching the function fields on the screen surface permits faster and user-friendly operation; and the graphic interface makes it easy to locate and quickly eliminate the causes of any irregularities that might occur during a production run.
With its 12-inch screen, the touch panel offers sufficient space to display all the graphic elements clearly and in readily recognizable form. It runs under Windows CE and connects with the controller via Profibus. The touch panel supports machines dispensing up to four components. Over 200 programs for 4 partial shots each can be stored. Flow-rates are measured to an accuracy of +/- 1 g/s.
