Munich, April 30, 2009 - A leading Italian plastics processor recently began operating a new KraussMaffei system for backfoaming complete instrument panels for automotive customers. KraussMaffei supplied the metering machine, a RIM Star Compact 40/16, together with four mixing heads and the PUC 07, a PC-based control system. KraussMaffei also supplied four electric mould carriers suitable for use with a wide range of different moulds.
The mould carriers' electric drives are low noise and low maintenance, energy efficient and flexible. Mould changes involve only minimal adjustments to production parameters. The result is very short set-up times. Another advantage of these mould carriers is their very fast opening, closing and tilt movements. All these features make for higher productivity and greater flexibility.
KraussMaffei experts worked closely with the customers while production was being rolled out and the process optimized. This cooperation ensured that the system meets the very highest quality and safety standards. The customer gave a very positive assessment of the system's operator-friendliness and KraussMaffei's technical support. A second system, which will further enhance productivity and flexibility, is already on order.
In this application area, KraussMaffei offers a multi-faceted product and process range. In the company's development labs, KraussMaffei experts work closely with customers to develop highly customized technical solutions.
