Munich, December 18, 2008 - Dr. Otto Urbanek has resigned as KraussMaffei Chief Technical Officer (CTO) with effect from the end of December 2008. His links to the company will remain strong, as he continues to chair the Technology Committee and to make his experience and abilities available as a consultant.
Dr. Dietmar Straub, CEO of KraussMaffei AG, points out "Dr. Urbanek has made a huge contribution to KraussMaffei's success. As a forward thinker he ensured that KraussMaffei made the maintenance of its globally unique engineering strengths, with expertise in three major technologies, a part of our corporate strategy. He successfully implemented the switchover to synchronized flow assembly, initiated the partnership with Toshiba and took the new AX series to market readiness in record time. In short, Dr. Urbanek has made a decisive contribution to ensuring that KraussMaffei is today the technology leader in our sector. Against this background, I'm very grateful that he acceded to my request and will in future give KraussMaffei access to his expertise as a consultant. We will be calling on this know-how, for example, in cross-technology projects."
Dr. Urbanek (58) brought his sector expertise to KraussMaffei in November 2004, moving from an Austrian competitor to become COO of mpm, the precursor of KraussMaffei AG. Since September 1, 2005, Dr. Urbanek has been CTO of KraussMaffei Technologies GmbH and when the company changed its legal form, he became a member of the Executive Committee of KraussMaffei AG. Highly qualified, with a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, and experienced, Dr. Urbanek will, from 2009 onwards, continue to chair our Technology Committee. In this capacity, he will be in a position to provide important technological input for KraussMaffei's future development.
