Automotive Testing integrated in Reaction Process Machinery division
Process technology and component testing efficiently linked

Munich, March 7, 2008 - KraussMaffei has integrated its Automotive Testing unit, with its intensive know-how and long experience in environmental simulations, into the company's Reaction Process Machinery division that has especially close links with the automotive industry. This brings Automotive Testing into KraussMaffei Technologies; prior to this move, Automotive Testing was part of KraussMaffei's service company.

With Automotive Testing part of the Reaction Process Machinery (RPM) division, customers will have readier access to these facilities and services. The division is a single-source supplier of machinery, moulds and mould technology for reaction processing. Now the company's single-source philosophy has been expanded to include testing the resulting parts and components under defined environmental conditions.

The team of around 20 specialists at Automotive Testing has several decades of accumulated experience in environmental simulations. Their test procedures are a cost-effective and time-saving method of acquiring reliable data on the durability and operating safety of automotive components. In the product development process, the earlier component weaknesses are identified, the cheaper it is to correct them.

Automotive Testing is accredited to test to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2000 and offers testing using both climatic and mechanical environmental simulations. In mechanical testing, electro-dynamic shakers subject components to defined mechanical stresses. Adding air conditioning equipment and a temperature chamber enables these vibration tests to be carried out under defined temperature conditions. Facilities for climatic simulations include climate chambers, solar simulation chambers, temperature shock chambers, temperature chambers, air conditioners, salt spray fog chambers and dust chambers.

KraussMaffei's Automotive Testing unit has solid expertise in mechanical and climatic environmental simulation
