Munich, April 7, 2008 - Romanian pipe producer Valrom has bought another QuickSwitch line from KraussMaffei Berstorff. Valrom, the biggest PE pipe producer in Romania, is a subsidiary of the Italian Valsir S.p.a. The new system is the first fully-automatic QuickSwitch line for polyolefin pipe up to 450 mm diameter.
The system has a KME 90-36 B/R single-screw extruder and a KME 60-36 B/R coextruder. Other key components are the 3L RKW 75 QS pipehead, the KM-SG 450 QS suction bell and the KM-KK 450 QS calibrating basket. Inline dimension change for complete line is activated by the QuickSwitch line control. Valrom will use the new line to produce three-layer PE pressure pipe. The company already operates five KraussMaffei Berstorff QuickSwitch lines, four of them in Romania and one in the Ukraine.
